CHEVALIER COLLEGE, NEW WING BLESSING

 CHEVALIER OPENING HALL

New facilities officially open at Chevalier College on a Sacred Heart Day filled with love and celebration!

Sacred Heart Day 2019 at Chevalier College was an even more special day this year as it marked the opening of two new facilities at the college. Staff, students and 125 special guests gathered in the new Multipurpose Hall to celebrate Mass with the MSC Provincial, Fr Chris McPhee, followed by the official opening of the facilities.

CHEVALIER OPENING STUDENTS

Eleven years of saving and planning have culminated in a new contemporary Multipurpose Hall and a refurbished and expanded Performing Arts Centre, the likes of which does not currently exist anywhere else in the Southern Highlands.

With an investment of approximately $16M (wholly funded by Chevalier College), the college is most grateful to past students, past parents and current parents who have supported these projects financially through their generous donations to the College Building Fund and the fees they have paid over the years.  In addition, the support of the Wollongong Diocesan Catholic Development Fund has been significant in allowing these projects to come to fruition.

The college has built these facilities to support the learning of our students but it also sees that it has a responsibility to the wider community and, as such, these facilities are being made available to individuals and groups that may be benefit from access to high quality contemporary theatre and sport facilities. (The Performing Arts Centre has already been heavily booked this year by outside groups from across the state and locally.)

Molly Good, College Captain said “I would, on behalf of the student body, offer our thanks and appreciation to all involved with the design and construction of these facilities. They are truly a wonderful addition to our school and they add to the defining landmark of the Highlands we call Chev.”

College Principal Chris McDermott wrote “from our humble beginnings as a boys’ boarding school in 1946 and with a past student alumni numbering over 13,000, I see these new facilities as honouring our past, meeting the demands of the present and looking forward to what will come as a result of these facilities in the future.”

The Chevalier College Board wishes to express its appreciation for the amazing work undertaken by JDH Architects and the builders, Grindley Construction.

CHEVALIER OPENING MASS

Chevalier remains a school that is open to all, regardless of religious affiliations. As a Missionaries of the Sacred Heart school, whose mission is ‘to be on earth the heart of God’. The college wants those who may wish to be part of their community and/or have access to these terrific facilities, to know that the college will always do its best to welcome and accommodate them.

Chevalier College students will now have access to state of the art performance and sports facilities, with the new buildings officially unveiled today.

The multi million dollar upgrades included a refurbishment of the performing arts centre, and a brand new multipurpose court.
