Heart of Life Centre celebrates 40 years with two books.
At the celebration on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, two books were launched. The first was Celebrating 40 Years, Reflections on a Ruby Anniversary. Its subtitle reads: A compilation of personal reflections on the impact of Heart of Life Programs in the last 40 years. It was edited by Brian Gallagher with 35 contributors (including 5 MSCs writing) with some statistics – for instance 386 graduates of the Siloam program for Spiritual Directors.
This book was launched by Kathy Cave, Director of the Wellsprings Centre.
In 2017, Heart of Life Spirituality Centre, A History was published.
It seemed a good idea to produce a continuation, Heart of Life Spirituality Centre, A History (continued) 2016-2022. Peter Malone has written this continuation. At the celebration, Director, Clare Shearman, asked him about the emphases of the continuation – the 40 years’ vision, venues, directors and the repercussions of Covid-19. It lists current programs, workshops, outreach with photos of staff from the recent past and the present staff, 2022, as well as the lists of graduates of each program (and an appendix noting all members of the Chevalier Family who have been involved in programs).
Each new book has Forewords by the present director, Clare Shearman, and Afterwords by the founding director, Brian Gallagher.
Each book can be obtained from Heart of Life:
