Preparing for the General Chapter, second Zoom consultation
Fr. Chris Chaplin, msc, began this third Pre-Chapter online session for the General Chapter explaining what the participants had to do and what the goal for this session was.
As in previous sessions, Fr. Humberto Henriques, msc, led a time of quiet and prayer to prepare everyone spiritually for the meeting. He read the passage from Nehemiah 8:1-3; 9:11-12. It was a moment to think on the synodality of this General Chapter and how our heart burns as we listen to Jesus.
During the moment of reflection, Fr. Humberto led the group through other points about Synodality, ‘what does it mean to us?’ At the end of the reflection, he said that this is a time to rejoice in the Lord and to give thanks to Him.

The third part of this online meeting was very interesting. Fr. Chris spoke about the document ‘Compilation of Congregational Feedback’ and how the participants were going to work on it. During this time, the delegates worked in Break Out groups to explore the first four topics of the document:
- Structures
- Protection of Minors & Vulnerable Adults
- Initial formation
- Ongoing formation

The remaining four topics of the document will be worked in the next online meeting.
These four sections were discussed in small groups according to languages. Finally, the conclusions were shared in the plenary and complied together for application in the Chapter in September.
