Heart of Life Centre, celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart

The feast was celebrated at the end of the first semester for 2026.

Around 50 members of staff, students and friends of Heart of Life gathered at Croydon.

They were welcomed by Peter Hendriks MSC, Director of the Centre.

There were hymns, prayers, some reflections from staff and students about heart spirituality and the Centre, and a reflection on the Gospel, the Magnificat by Sister Bridgid Arthur CSB, co-founder of Bridgidine Asylum Seekers Project.

After group conversation and and the writing of words on a small heart, the words were announced the hearts placed on the larger heart on the floor.

The celebration ended with the handing on of the directorship of Heart of Life from Peter Hendriks to the new director, Dora Ghaitidis, whose background is Greek Orthodox, a graduate of Siloam, Spiritual Direction Program, and Emmaus, Supervision Program.  This was symbolised by the presenting of the icon, commissioned by Stephen Hackett in 2024 for the Centre itself, an icon of the visitation, a significant encounter, so important for listening and spiritual direction.

And all raised their arms in blessing and commisioning Dora.
