One in three Australian households went without eating or had to compromise on meal choices over the last 12 months, according to a new report.

"Families are skipping meals, or they're only feeding certain members of the family at certain meals, or in the worst-case scenario, they're going whole days without eating at all," according to Foodbank Australia CEO Kylea Tink.
Data from Foodbank suggests that food insecurity has worsened since 2024, leaving 3.5 million families facing hardship.
Among the groups most at risk of being food insecure are single-parent households and households that include people with a disability or health issue.
