With the MSC withdrawal from Hindmarsh Parish last month, here are some final stories for the record.

LAY MSC CELEBRATE FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART

Our June meeting was different this year. We normally have separate meetings of the two Lay MSC groups. However, considering the importance of the occasion, it was suggested that we have a combined meeting this year. It was a very significant suggestion and the decision was welcomed by all who attended.

The meeting was a meal together at the Lockleys Hotel. Most were able to attend. Only a couple could not make the event. There was no special agenda. It was an occasion for us to converse.

It was good to have Fr Chris Murphy with us for this occasion. He was over in Adelaide to celebrate the final events of the Handover of the Hindmarsh Parish to the Archdiocese. This was the special occasion that affected all of us.

Here were more MSC priests invited. All who have served in the parish were on the invitation list. They were not able to attend. So, Fr Chris was the representative of the others.

There has been so much written abbot this week in Adelaide. I think that there has been enough. I will leave it there until next time. The picture tells the story.

OUR PARISH SCHOOLS, FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART

The Schools in our parish gather to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart.

These parish schools are St Joseph’s, St Michael’s, Immaculate Heart of Mary and Nazareth Community College. The students all took part in preparing the liturgy and carried out the readings and the Prayers of Intercession.

Images from each of the schools were carried in procession at the beginning and were later displayed in front of the altar.

Fr Bill was the Main Celebrant and was assisted by Fr Noel Mansfield and Fr Chris Murphy. Fr Paul was unable to be there and was to deliver the homily. At the last minute, Fr Noel filled in for him with an impromptu homily on the Good Shepherd!

At the end of the Mass, Fr Bill thanked all who had participated and thanked them for their dedication and fidelity in the way they carried out their various duties.

Then we were asked to be seated in the congregation while a short presentation was made on Power Point. It was a tribute mainly to Fr Bill who is leaving the parish after this weekend.

NEWS FROM HINDMARSH, ADELAIDE, OLSH and MSC

Each year, the two communities meet in an informal way to catch up. We meet on two occasions: 1. Feast of the Sacred Heart; 2. Jules Chevalier’s feast in October.

This year it was the turn of the Daughters to invite the MSC to their home in Kilburn, for a well-prepared meal. We thought that it was all the work of the Daughters; but they informed us that a neighbour. who is a chef, had prepared all the food. It was an excellent occasion.

Sr Jenny was not able to be present. For the MSC’s, it was an occasion for Fr Bill to say his goodbye to Adelaide. We were also able to welcome Fr Chris Murphy. He was in Adelaide to join us in the Handover Ceremony of the Sacred Heart Parish, Hindmarsh/Findon.

It is a memorable occasion because of our comings and goings.
