COLLEGES
Believing that the heart of education is the education of the heart, Australian Missionaries of the Sacred Heart are involved in many aspects of education, from senior secondary colleges, to tertiary education and adult faith formation.
Chevalier College is a Catholic coeducational high school situated in the NSW Southern Highlands near Bowral.
The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC), is an order of religious Priests and Brothers founded by Father Jules Chevalier at Issoudun, France, in 1854. Jules Chevalier had a vision of a new world emerging and he wanted to make known the Gospel message of God's love and care for all men and women and to evoke a response in every human heart. He especially valued love, concern, compassion, understanding, respect and acceptance of every individual. His vision was based on the words of Jesus:
"I give you a new commandment, love one another.
Just as I have loved you, you also must love one another.
By this love you have for one another, everyone will know
that you are my disciples." (Jn 13:34 ff)
Chevalier College is owned by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and conducted by Chevalier College Limited, with a committed group of teachers and support staff. It began as a boarding school for boys in 1946 with a total enrolment of 40. Today, it is a coeducational day school with an enrolment of approximately 1100 students.
Chevalier nurtures a strong religious spirit, marked by Gospel values of FAITH and COMMUNITY. The College motto is Fortes in Fide, meaning Strong in Faith. Our faith is based on a belief that God loves every individual, regardless of talents or abilities, and that this makes everyone special. Community is that sense of identity which unites students, families and staff in Christ, as a special part of the family of God. We value truth, learning and respect for the individual as essential features of the education process. In the search for truth, Chevalier encourages students to integrate religious faith with life.

Daramalan College, in Dickson, Canberra, was founded in 1962 by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.
Daramalan started as a Catholic school for boys with just 246 students and today has grown to become one of Canberra's largest secondary schools with over 1460 boys and girls from Years 7 to 12.
Daramalan College offers comprehensive and diverse academic, pastoral, spiritual, vocational, sporting and cultural development to prepare competent and confident young men and women for the world beyond school.
The ethos of the MSC underpins our tradition of achievement and faith at Daramalan and our students flourish in this environment. Religious Education is central in the curriculum at Daramalan and students are expected to actively participate in all aspects of College life.
The foundation for a Spirituality of the Heart can be found in our own personal experience of God's love. This Spirituality recognises God's love for all people and hence is relational. At Daramalan we value every individual as one who is loved by Christ.
The motto of the Sacred Heart highlights this missionary spirituality: "May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved" and at Daramalan we have adopted this ethos with passion and fervour.
Daramalan College promotes a spirit of family formed by kindness and understanding, by compassion and mutual forgiveness, by gentleness, humility and simplicity, by hospitality and a sense of humour, with justice and concern for all.

SPIRITUALITY CENTRES
Chevalier Institute is a ministry of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in the Australian Province. It is a centre for formation, committed to sharing and promoting the Chevalier Family's Spirituality of the Heart.
The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC), Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) and the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart (MSC Sisters), with Lay MSC, Lay OLSH and other laity committed to the spirituality of the heart are members of the Chevalier family.
Chevalier Institute Team was established in 2003. Our offices are based in the Chevalier Resource Centre at Kensington, NSW.
The Chevalier Institute Logo
The Chevalier Institute logo expresses symbolically the movement of a Spirituality of the Heart: namely, it calls us to make the journey into our own hearts, and from there, back out to the world, 'to be on earth the heart of God.'
The logo reminds us that the journey to and from the heart is often a delicate and faltering one. The way of the heart requires a willingness to walk within the mystery of our inner 'landscape', and to thus be led into new ways of being in the world.
Spirituality of the Heart
A Spirituality of the Heart reverences the human heart as loved by God unconditionally, and as the privileged place of encounter with God.
Living such a spirituality involves the journey into one's own heart and into the heart of the human condition, open to encountering there the compassionate Heart of Jesus, the Heart of God.
It is this encounter which has the power to transform brokenness into blessing, to create the world anew.
Chevalier Institute Mission
The Chevalier Institute is a ministry of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in the Australian Province. Our Mission is to facilitate and support lay, adult faith formation in the Chevalier Family's Spirituality of the Heart.
In fulfilling the mission of the Chevalier Institute we are committed to facilitating formation that:
1. Takes account of the lived reality of lay people (past and present) and their diverse spiritual journeys, and engages the charism in a meaningful and relevant way.
2. Follows sound adult learning principles and acknowledges respected theories of human development - physical, psychological, spiritual and emotional. This is an ongoing process requiring both time and resources.
3. Respects and actively acknowledges the inter-relationship between body, mind and spirit.
4. Skills and forms 'formators' so as to empower them to facilitate formation in their local contexts.
5. Seeks out and makes available resources that are supportive of our mission.
6. Plans and offers a range of liturgical experiences as an integral part of all formation experiences.

Heart of Life began in 1983 as an initiative of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. Our inspiration stems from our belief in God's love for all people, poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. This mysterious love moves in our hearts, our lives and our world, inviting us to an authentic, grounded and deeply human way of being.
We find ourselves drawn into and bonded with other human hearts, the heart of humanity, and indeed the sacred mystery at the heart of all reality. The way of the heart is fundamental to the rich tradition of Christian spirituality of which we are part. It is a spirituality of loving dialogue and sensitive awareness to God's self-revelation, calling us to a passionate boldness of heart for mission.
The way of the heart rests on a contemplative attitude and an authentic discernment that underpins all that we do at Heart of Life – our seminars and workshops, our ministry formation programs and our professional commitment to spiritual direction ... the place where the heart finds space to speak. We invite you to join us, as our hearts speak our truth, our longings, and our search for all that is real, true and good.

St. Mary's Towers, set in 500 hectares of pleasant bush and pasture land, is gifted with an atmosphere conducive to prayer and reflection, supportive of the retreat program we offer.
A PLACE OF SILENCE:
We cultivate a place of profound contemplative silence in an hospitable environment which binds and communicates. This silence extends from our way of living and moving about ordinary tasks, to an inward contemplative attitude towards one's own self and God.
The silence of this place is at the service of a serious commitment to a spirit of prayer.
OUR TASK :
To work with passion and patience, to shape, to hold, and to be, that particular space, in which God does in people's hearts, that which God needs and desires to do.
THE HOME OF THE SPIRIT:
Environment and silence, though precious to us, are but a preparation for what God alone can achieve. St. Mary's Towers is home to a way of life. The people at The Towers are motivated and formed by their personal experience of the divine and human love of God in the heart of Jesus, now glorified and living on in all creation. This spirit and life find expression in a natural and normal living out of the kindness of God, towards those who live here and those who visit.

MSC Mission Office Australia
The MSC Mission Office acts: by analysing the causes of injustice and poverty;by seeking remedies;through raising awareness and support (personnel, goods, funds) for those with whom we work, or those who seek our assistance. In this way we strive to share with others a common vision and mission for justice, peace and integrity of all creation. One of the works of the MSC Mission Office is to provide clean water to people all over the world. In so doing we are motivated by the words of Jesus when He said that if we give as much as a cup of water in His name it will not go without its reward.
The MSC Mission Office began in June 1998. We have a youthful spirit open to the cry of the poor. Although our spirit and motivation is Catholic, we have a history of co-operating with all people of good will. Our spirit is one of hospitality, good cheer and mutual support. Australians have a proven record of distinguished service in developing countries. Each year hundreds of people go to many countries, often for years, and do remarkable work.
