CONGRATULATIONS, FRANK ANDERSEN MSC, 50 YEARS ORDAINED
Frank Andersen MSC was ordained to the priesthood on August 10th 1968
After studies at St Mary’s Towers, Douglas Park, Frank made his novitiate in 1960, profession February 26th 1961. His studies for the priesthood were at Canberra Monastery and Sacred Heart Monastery, Croydon. Frank’s sister, Mary, is a member of the Little Company of Mary, and his brother, Russell, is an MSC, longtime missionary in PNG.
Frank became involved in his student days with MSC education at Daramalan College, Canberra. After ordination, he was appointed to Daramalan, working in the Primary School for over ten years. He then went to Berkeley, California, for a renewal course. On his return to Australia, he was involved in Adult Education and small communities.
Frank is very well-known and appreciated for his music. His first Album, Eagle’s Wings, was produced in 1978, All I Possess following in 1981, Rising Moon, an album of Scriptural responses, and Kindly Light. His hymns continue to be sung around the world. He has also written, Jesus Our Story and Eucharist: Participating in the Mystery.
In the early 1990s, Frank, with Madeleine Barlow and Michael Morwood, established a mission team in Sunshine with local work but soon extending all around Australia. Frank also worked with the Christian Brothers at home and abroad with their Chapter.
Frank is part of the MSC community in Melbourne.
