SHE
US, 1983, 90 minutes, Colour.
Sandahl Bergman.
Directed by Avi Nesher.
She is an oddball film. It is one of the many versions of the famous H. Rider Haggard novel. She has been impersonated by such stars as Ursula Andress.
The star of this Italian version is Sandahl Bergman, the statuesque leading lady of Conan the Barbarian. In fact, the film, its action sequences and its costumes and decor owe somewhat to Conan the Barbarian. The film follows, in general, the outline of the She story. However, it is set in a post-nuclear surrealist future. The emphasis is on action - with the touch of glamour and gore.
The film makes very little sense - it is certainly geared for the broadest of audiences, in the cinema and on video. An eccentric postscript to the various versions of She.
