RIP, Ray Sabio MSC

MSC Philippines: With heavy hearts, we announce the passing on of our brother, Fr. Raymundo "Ray" T. Sabio MSC.

We first met Ray when he was part of an APia Formation Conference at Croydon in1983.

At the age of 76, Fr. Ray had breathed his last with gratitude of a life embraced as a Missionary of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (MSC). Fr. Ray was born on March 28, 1946 in Tubungan, Iloilo. He offered himself as a full-fledged MSC on June 29, 1969. He was ordained to the presbyteral order last December 20, 1971.

Offering his life as a Missionary of the Sacred Heart, Fr. Ray was an ardent disciple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a fervent promoter of the devotion to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

He lived a life full of zeal in whatever ministries he had been into. Fr. Ray was a supporter and promoter of vocations to the Chevalier Family. He was also actively involved in the formation in the would-be MSCs as formator, Rector and Novice Master.

For almost three decades, Fr. Ray was a missionary to a foreign land to spread the Gospel and make Jesus known. He spent 16 years in Korea and 12 years in the Marshall Islands. In January 2008, Ray was appointed as Prefect Apostolic of the Marshall Islands. He served as the prefect apostolic from 2008 to 2017. Peacefully returned to our Creator last night, Fr. Ray lived a lived that inspired many and made many to know and love Jesus’ Most Sacred Heart.
